Your Coffee Mug Is Gross, And That Might Be Ok

We all know there are two types of people in this world;

  1. Those who will let anyone drink from their coffee mug.
  2. And the sane people.

In a recent story by the Today Show, an infectious disease expert named Jeffrey Starke talked about the consequences or lack there of, when not washing your daily coffee mug.

As he breaks it down, there is no real risk in leaving your coffee mug dirty, UNLESS you tend to allow other folks to sip from it.

Sharing is not caring, people.

In your home the spread of sickness is slightly easier to control, that is unless you have a two year old and then just figure you will be sick for 2 years straight.

The office on the other-hand is an environment ripe with potential to spread viruses, and there is no better way than shared mugs.

Mr. Starke says, if you share, try to care and wash that mug. Okay he didn't say that, but I did and it's dang good advice.

Do you take cream and sugar? Then you better wash that mug, otherwise you have just created the perfect environment for mold to thrive.

Mold can cause serious health problems if you are prone to mold allergies.
