How The Coffee You Drink Will Affect Your Brain

This is your brain

And this is how your brain makes you feel on Jamaica Mountain Blue Coffee.

A recent Japanese study showed how our brain can be tricked simply by smelling coffee.

For example, smelling Guatemalan & Jamaica Mountain Blue coffee brought on relaxed feelings among the study participants, whereas Kona and Sumatra coffees resulted in increased mental focus.

Great question. The study suggests that "it's all about the waves, man!"

Brain waves, specifically Alpha Waves, are spiked when a person is relaxed. To prove their theory, the scientists asked participants to smell different types of coffee and monitored their brain wave activity.

Duh, simple right? Just hook the thing to thing and bam, brain waves.

Okay, way more science went into this study, but the result seems pretty straight-forward.

Want to have a relaxed coffee buzz opt for a dark roast, like Jamaica or Guatemalan coffee.

Want to get focused? Grab the medium roast; like a Kona or Sumatra coffee.

What's your preference? Relaxed or buzzed? Tell us in the comments.

I received my first San Francisco coffee pods today, and I am pleased with them. I love that the pods are compostable. The bags that they come in say that they are compostable in industrial facilities but not in your back yard. What does that mean? Does that mean that they are recyclable? What should I do with them?

Hi Kathleen! Thanks for reaching out. Our pods are compostable in an industrial composting facility. If you have any additional questions or need a list of facilities please send us an email and we would be more than happy to assist you.
