New Release - 12 oz. Wine Barrel Aged Ethiopia Yirgacheffe

Wine-Barrel-Aged Ethiopia

Wine by itself has satisfied the world for thousands of years. Coffee for nearly as long. It's time they come together.

You will experience an earthy, rich, cup with hints of red wine. The cup is complex, heavy-bodied with spicy, fruit undertones. Delicious and bold.

INDEPENDENT REVIEW FROM COFFEEREVIEW.com

Origin: Yirgacheffe growing region, southern Ethiopia

Roast: Medium-Dark

Est. Price: $19.99/12 ounces

Blind Assessment:

Very sweet; quietly layered complexity. Dried jasmine, alcohol-toned raspberry, roasted cacao nib, scorched oak, grapefruit zest in aroma and cup. Light-footed, delicate acidity; light, silky mouthfeel. Floral and raspberry notes carry into a rather dry, roast-dominated finish.

Notes:

A wet-processed or washed coffee from the celebrated southern Ethiopia growing region of Yirgacheffe that after shipping was aged for six months in seasoned American oak wine barrels. This coffee earned the fourth-highest rating in a cupping of aged, casked and specially cured coffees for Coffee Review‘s May 2017 tasting report.

The Bottom Line: This complex expression of delicate but powerfully aromatic green coffee, a hint of wine-toned alcohol and distinct roast notes should please those who like a roasty but nuanced and original cup.
